This Week in Volcano News; Mexico City Volcano Erupts, Mt. Saint Helens Landslide
This week saw a new volcanic eruption occur which was visible from Mexico City, involving a nearly 500 meter high lava fountain. This occurred at the Popocatepetl volcano 65 kilometers to the southeast of Mexico city, which produced a violent strombolian eruption. Meanwhile, a large landslide occurred at the Mount Saint Helens volcano, blocking a major road. And, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, an increase in eruptive intensity occurred at the Nyamuragira volcano. This video will discuss these stories & list the 41 volcanoes which are actively erupting across the planet.

Note: This image does not showcase the last 7 days of eruptive activity at the Popocatepetl volcano. As it instead is an image from the June 30, 1984 lava fountain from the Kilauea volcano which is not erupting as of May 19th, 2023.
