On September 12, 1985, Raymond C. Fife died of cardiac arrest and a brain bleed. Two days earlier, the 12-year-old had left home on his bike to visit a friend’s house, but he never arrived. After a few hours, Raymond’s father found him naked and severely beaten, with burns on his face. The boy’s genitals had human bite marks on them, and his underwear was tied around his neck and lit on fire. He had been impaled through the rectum with a stick, which penetrated into his bladder. Local teenagers Danny Hill and Timothy Combs had attacked the boy in the woods, stolen his bike, and left him for dead.
