Women’s League Of Health And Beauty (1920-1939)

Women’s League of Health and Beauty - late 1920s or 1930s. Location of events unknown. Adult women in sheer Grecian style tunics, a la Isadora Duncan, cavorting about in a park or garden. They start by doing a dance in a circle around a small bush; ending in them holding hands overhead and each raising one leg backward. They continue in this manner; prancing across the lawn in what must be their idea of woodland nymphs - sort of skipping in slow motion. At another point they come sashaying along in a row; sweeping their arms from side to side; and one by one go jumping off to the side and disappear! Maybe they were walking on a raised beam. There are also double exposures of the women dancing across screen; looking like ghosts; w/ trees showing through them. American cataloguer says: ’Very funny and bizarre. Modern dance, 1920s.
