Hurricane Helene hits Florida with ‘unsurvivable’ waves

Rescues are under way after Hurricane Helene reached Florida’s Big Bend region on Thursday night, slashing through already fragile communities with sustained winds of up to 140mph and an “unsurvivable” storm surge of 20ft.
