In full: Netanyahu praises Trump in US congress speech boycotted by Democrats

Benjamin Netanyahu used a speech in the US congress which attracted a Democrat boycott to commend Donald Trump and attack protesters in Washington as “Iran’s useful idiots”. The speech, which was not attended by Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee, drew thousands of protesters to the Capitol. Mr Netanyahu said demonstrators were “useful idiots” for Israel’s adversaries and compared those holding up “gays for Gaza” signs as chickens supporting KFC. The Israeli prime minister used the speech to lavish praise on Trump “for all he’s done for Israel.” He also thanked Joe Biden for his support but did not mention Ms Harris who has been criticised for missing the speech for another engagement.
