According to Abdulla Ahmed Alshehhi, chief operating officer of Dubai Cares, thousands of volunteers have signed up for the campaign. “It was totally booked within hours after we publicised it on social media.“ “We plan to stuff food baskets, baby baskets, and women’s baskets.““In the first edition, we packed approximately 7,500 boxes, and we expect thousands of boxes this time,“ said Alshehhi. A number of charitable and community organizations are also supporting this endeavor. “We had volunteers from many countries, including children and the elderly, as well as persons of determination and senior citizens,“ he went on to say. The World Food Programme, as a participant in this project, has partnered with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Community Development to transfer humanitarian commodities to Al Areesh and then to Gaza via the Rafah Crossing. WFP has already airlifted 50 tonnes of supplies to Al Areesh, passing through Gaza.
