The Album Leaf | Audiotree From Nothing

Los Angeles based musician Jimmy LaValle, better known as The Album Leaf, has been pulling heart strings with his music since 1998. But before that, he was pulling at people’s necks and spines, having roots in the hardcore scene of San Diego. That is, until he discovered his love for manipulating ambient sound and opted for a world more true to him. On his latest release ’Future Falling,’ LaValle set out to write an album that he could perform himself. Making big records was always his first choice, but with the onset of lockdowns in 2020, his approach naturally shifted into something more directly accessible. Cutting up and whittling down the tracks revealed a vulnerability that aligned to LaValle’s experience of family, of loss, and of self reflection. A quiet person, LaValle is calmly seated in the music he performs as well as in the way he speaks. The sounds from his Novation seem to extend from a deeper place within himself where his true creativity lies. His approach to looking at the world through the lens of inspiration suggests that to him, all things are creative when captured in the moment.
