First Eastern Screech Owlet to Leave the Nest Box - Florida 5/8/2013

The eldest owlet of the 2013 season made the big plunge early this morning. Was lucky to find her in a nearby tree - she was making noise and the mother was nearby - she was too noisy and exposed. Listen carefully at the 0:59 mark and you will hear the mother softly calling. Fortunately the mother called her to safety - danger lurks everywhere, but she looks quite healthy and surprisingly large. The other two will most likely leave tonight - the parents may withhold food and call them if they think its time
