wood turning an oak cube
An old piece of split oak left abandoned outside for years will come to life in this video!
After having cut a more or less symmetrical cube, I install it comfortably on the wood lathe, then the roughing work begins quietly to see what takes shape.
The cracks are much too deep and risk breaking the piece later, so I decided to reinforce by applying lightly tinted epoxy paste. Then I continued digging the inside of the bowl but the cracks made the whole vibrate despite the ’epoxy I therefore decided to put it back inside with a different color. I finish with a large manual sanding because the three points prevent me from doing it directly on the lathe, then by a generous layer of carnauba wax.
