The Potholder #3 Interlocking

Technique: Double filet crochet (Interlocking filet crochet). In this video, I am crocheting dc instead of tr for the diagonals. Crocheting this way is a little more difficult. If you are not very experienced with crocheting this way, I advise you to crochet tr for the diagonals. This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download Abbreviations (US terms): ● Repeats are indicated by ( ) or [ ] ● st (sts)– stitch (stitches) ● sp – space ● ch – chain ● dc – double crochet ● tr – triple crochet. It is also called a treble crochet stitch; the two terms are used interchangeably. Diagonal stitches: ● Rf – right diagonal tr into same st and dc(f) (into next dc of the previous round) Two Together ● Rb – right diagonal tr into same st and dc(b) (into next dc of the previous round) Two Together ● fL – dc(f) and left diagonal tr (into next dc of the previous round) Two Together. The next dc will need to be crocheted into same stitch as the treble. ● bL – dc(b) and left diagonal tr (into next dc of the previous round) Two Together. The next dc will need to be crocheted into same stitch as the treble. ● fL first st in round – first dc(f) and left diagonal tr Two Together = ch1, diagonal tr (into next dc of the previous round), ch1. The next dc will need to be crocheted into same stitch as the treble. ● bL first st in round – first dc(b) and left diagonal tr Two Together = ch1, diagonal tr (into next dc of the previous round), ch1. The next dc will need to be crocheted into same stitch as the treble. ● fL before corner # 4 – dc(f) and left diagonal tr into first dc of this round Two Together. The corner #4 will need to be crocheted into same stitch as the treble. ● bL before corner # 4 – dc(b) and left diagonal tr into first dc of this round Two Together. The corner #4 will need to be crocheted into same stitch as the treble. ● RfL – right diagonal tr in same st, dc(f) (into next dc of the previous round) and left diagonal tr (into next dc of the previous round) Three Together. The next dc will need to be crocheted into same stitch as the last treble. ● RbL – right diagonal tr in same st, dc(b) (into next dc of the previous round) and left diagonal tr (into next dc of the previous round) Three Together. The next dc will need to be crocheted into same stitch as the last treble. ● dc(f)1, corner(R) – dc(f)1, ch1, tr1 into same st, ch1. The next dc will need to be crocheted into same stitch. ● dc(b)1, corner(R) – dc(b)1, ch1, tr1 into same st, ch1. The next dc will need to be crocheted into same stitch. ● corner, Rf – ch3(=corner), right diagonal tr into last dc of this round and dc(f) into same stich as the last dc of this round Two Together. ● corner, Rb – ch3(=corner), right diagonal tr into last dc of this round and dc(b) into same stich as the last dc of this round Two Together. ● (Rf)4 – repeat Rf 4 times. Similarly for all other diagonals: (Rb)4, (fL)4, (bL)4, (RfL)4 or (RbL)4 = repeat the contents of the brackets the indicated number of times, in this case 4 times. ● dc(f*) –dc(f) in front of the other colored mesh but under the diagonal. ● dc(b*) – a normal dc(b), worked behind the other colored layer.
