Mr J Higgins (1927)

Mr John Higgins - world champion high jumper shows the audience his skills - despite being 54 years old. We see him jump over six chairs stacked back to back. This is then shown in slow motion - he is holding weights in his hands which he drops halfway through the jump. The second stunt is a jump onto a table then over two chairs on top of another table. This is again shown in slow motion. Another jump sees Mr Higgins jumping over some chairs and putting out two candles with a touch of his feet before he hits the ground - groovy! Seen in slow motion. Another stunt involves dipping his feet into a bowl of water balanced on his assistant’s head. Nice quirky stuff. Was a French Pathe Revue item. French intertitles.
