Fire And Ice (1916)

Fire and ice - despite temperature below zero, firemen fight flames which destroy Bonaventure Station at Montreal, Canada - 1916. Disasters. Fire & Ice. Hot and cold. Ice-covered building in Montreal; Canada on fire; firemen battle two extremes. Shot looking along side of tall building; Bonaventure Station; completely covered in ice - all bumpy and white; with icicles hanging all over it; it looks like something designed by Gaudi or some magic crystal palace from a fairy tale fantasy. Pan down slightly. Man coming down icy steep steps of fire escape very slowly and carefully. CU icicles hanging on side of building; pan down - another ice-enclosed fire escape stairway - to snow on ground. Shot of top of building; with smoke pouring out of upper windows. Then shot of firemen on icy balcony or ledge of the smoky icy building; ladders leaning up against ledge. The line of fire fighters are pulling a hose forward. Very weird and mysterious looking bit of film. 368B FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITIS
