DOG AND DOLPHIN FORM AN UNLIKELY FRIENDSHIP. by RACHEL SACKS NOVEMBER 12, 2014 There are all sorts of odd and unexpected pairings in the animal kingdom: cats and birds, hippos and turtles, chimps and pumas. Every day in the small Irish town of Tory Island, Ben the yellow Labrador runs down to the harbor and jumps into the water. He doesn’t have to wait long for his dolphin friend, Duggie, to show up, and the two then go for a swim. Locals say the pair will swim for anywhere up to three hours (depending on Ben’s schedule), and Duggie will make sure Ben gets back to shore if he’s tired.
