The Russian diving suit ГК 2М, GK 2m, Водолаз лесник, walking diver on sea ground

The Russian diving suit ГК-2М or GK-2m was developed in the second half of the 1980s. It combines the simplicity and low production costs of its forerunner, the ГК-2 ( see here: ) with the facility to use subsurface telephones of the much more complicated and expensive diving suit УГК-1 ( see here: and here: ). The diving suit ГК-2М was the standard equipment of the organisation for water rescue ОСВОД or OSVOD, later integrated into EMERCOM, the russian ministry for civilian emergencies. It was used from about 1986 up to the early 2000s and might still be in use for exercise puposes. The suit is not designed to be used with fins.
