I am speaking about the Spanish guitar school and its interpretation and performance practice c:a 1880-1930. I make connections to the general musical performances of the late romantic period and puts Tarrega’s music in the context of contemporary musicians of instruments such as violin, piano and also singers. I am also showing the special technical aspects such as apoyando, portamenti, differentiating tone colors etc.
Here are the musical examples I am referring to in the video:
1. Pablo de Sarasate:
2. Adelina Patti:
3. Carl Reinecke:
4. Enrique Granados:
5. Miguel Llobet:
6. Regino Sainz
