The New War Of Movement (1917)

The New War Of Movement - Portuguese cavalry’s remarkable training. Portugal. Some exciting footage of hard riding. First shot looking across at hillside; with cavalry riding down the long and steep hill and toward camera. Then a sort of side view (from below) of men riding horses down steep wall of ravine and up the other side; as fast as possible. Some of them stay in the saddle but others fall out in all sorts of ways; including over the horse’s head! A group of men watch at the top and await their turn Another wild cavalry drill: Shot of river with thick trees along banks - actually more like a swimming hole here. Suddenly a horse and rider come flying out of trees on right and sail into the water. A series of other horses and riders follow with various degrees of grace. World War One; military. Army. G 431 A.
