Shrek 1 - Lord Farquaad Castle Scene

This is the first scene in which Lord Farquaad, the ruthless ruler of Duloc, appears. In this scene, he is torturing the Gingerbread Man to find out where the other fairy tale creatures are hiding, so he can banish them from the kingdom. He breaks off his legs and dunks him in a glass of milk. He also threatens to tear off the buttons on his chest. The Gingerbread Man refuses to talk and mocks him for being short. He also reveals that Farquaad’s castle is very big because he is compensating for something. Farquaad gets angry and orders his guards to bring him the Magic Mirror. He then asks the Mirror to show him a princess he can marry to become king. The Mirror shows him three options: Cinderella, Snow White, and Princess Fiona. Farquaad chooses Fiona because she is locked in a tower guarded by a dragon, which he thinks will make him look brave and heroic. He then announces to his subjects that he will have a tournament to select the best knight to rescue Fiona for him.
