Can You Beat Plants Vs. Zombies With ONLY 1 Column?

In Plants Versus Zombies, a variety of plants combined together creates a well-structured defence against a variety of opposing threats. But what if we just took that away - and restricted ourselves to only 1 column - only allowing 1 plant per row? Can you still beat the game this way?
