She took the name Atilia. Two years later, now 14, Atilia had done well in her new role. She caught the eye of the new provincial governor, Caius. Though he was 11 years her senior, he married her. He was cruel and she hated him. Several years into their marriage, Atilia was reunited with an old friend. Eadan had also assimilated into Roman culture, taking the name Milo. He became a soldier and was now directly employed by Caius as a guard for his wife. Life was much pleasanter for both of them after their reunion. Milo’s old crush on Atilia turned into genuine feelings, though she was still holding on to her own childhood crush on
