The knee joint : Patellofemoral Syndrome. #anatomy

@SmartDoctor1 ===================== In humans and other primates, the knee joins the thigh with the leg and consists of two joints: one between the femur and tibia (tibiofemoral joint), and one between the femur and patella (patellofemoral joint). It is the largest joint in the human body.[2] The knee is a modified hinge joint, which permits flexion and extension as well as slight internal and external rotation. The knee is vulnerable to injury and to the development of osteoarthritis. It is often termed a compound joint having tibiofemoral and patellofemoral components. (The fibular collateral ligament is often considered with tibiofemoral components.)[ Knee replacement, also known as knee arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability, most commonly offered when joint pain is not diminished by conservative sources[1][2] and also for other knee diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. In patients with severe deformity from advanced rheumatoid arthritis, trauma, or long-standing osteoarthritis, the surgery may be more complicated and carry higher risk. Osteoporosis does not typically cause knee pain, deformity, or inflammation and is not a reason to perform knee replacement. Other major causes of debilitating pain include meniscus tears, cartilage defects, and ligament tears. Debilitating pain from osteoarthritis is much more common in the elderly. Knee replacement surgery can be performed as a partial or a total knee replacement.[3] In general, the surgery consists of replacing the diseased or damaged joint surfaces of the knee with metal and plastic components shaped to allow continued motion of the knee. The operation typically involves substantial postoperative pain and includes vigorous physical rehabilitation. The recovery period may be 12 weeks or longer and may involve the use of mobility aids (e.g. walking frames, canes, crutches) to enable the patient’s return to preoperative mobility.[4] It is estimated that approximately 82% of total knee replacements will last 25 years. ===================== Follow us on the @SmartDoctor1 digital platform ===================== ▶Facebook▶ ▶Instagram▶ ▶TikTok▶ @ ▶ twitter▶ ============= Smart Doctor 👨‍⚕️ @SmartDoctor1/youtube ============= #kneepain #knee #kneeosteoarthritis #skeleton #cranium #skull #anatomy #heart #smoker #lunges #lungs #uterusproblem #fetal #love #tongue #muscles #muscle #skull #humanskull #baby #fetaldevelopment #fetal #fetalmovement #fetalecho #heart #baby brain #shorts #viral #the_voice #thevoice #voice #voiceover #SmartDoctor1 #Smart #smart #Smart_Doctor #smartdoctor #oxygen #blood #body #the_voice #thevoice #voice #voiceover #pregnancy #medicina #anatomy #doctor #america #माहवारी #月経 #임신 #妊娠 #pregnant #gravidez #information
