Girl (Beatles cover)

Hi everybody! For your listening and viewing enjoyment, I give you my re-creation of the Beatles song “Girl” from their “Rubber Soul” album. In a way, the song seems to me to be John Lennon’s counterpart to Paul McCartney’s “Michelle” from the same album. There has been some question over the years as to what instrument is heard in the instrumental section toward the end of the song. Some people have suggested it was the Vox Mando-Guitar, but I would have to disagree, as that is an electric instrument, whereas the sound heard on the original recording is most certainly acoustic. Others have said it was some sort of bouzouki. This is a definite possibility. Another possibility could be the Framus 12-string acoustic guitar (heard in a number of other Beatles songs, such as “I’ve Just Seen A Face” and “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away”). This is what I have used for my rendition. I think it sounds very similar to the original recording (and…I don’t have access to a bouzouki). As usual, I’m playing and singing all the parts. What you see in this video are the actual performances as I recorded them. There is no “lip-syncing“ or miming. Enjoy!
