Things Are Not What They Seem (1929)

C/U of a woman’s legs in stockings. Camera pans up - lingeringly. We get a glimpse of stocking top before a cut to a L/S. Three pairs of legs are visible below a curtain. The legs are crossed then uncrossed. The curtains are opened to reveal three women holding the legs which turn out to be false legs! They are in fact the latest stocking shaping machines. L/S of woman at work in a stocking factory. Stockings are coming off the production line with cardboard inside them to keep then in shape. A mechanical clamp is used to take the stockings off the card. Intertitle reads: “For the beach“ - L/S of a woman taking off her hat, then her shirt, then her trousers! Presumably revealing a new style of beachwear - funny little shorts. Story seems incomplete. FILM ID:874.2 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
