The Cherubic Hymn - Херувимская песнь (Russian Orthodox Chant)

The Cherubic Hymn is the primary Cherubikon, or song of the angels, sung during every Divine Liturgy of the year except those of Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday. It occurs after the Gospel reading and is interrupted by the Great Entrance. The Cherubic Hymn was added to the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom by order of the Emperor Justinian near the end of the sixth century. The hymn is sung in the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Eastern Catholic Churches. The hymn is also called Znamenny chant or the Old Russian chant. This heavenly sacred music brings peace and purity to our hearts. The place in the video is the Optina Monastery (Оптина пустынь). A famous Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky visited this monastery, and it inspired many aspects of his masterpiece ’The Brothers Karamazov’ (published in 1880). Please check out my blog article: I’ve edited video clips from the Russian documentary film. I want to dedicate this video to my “angel“, who led me back to faith. Blessings to everyone. (^—^) Teisuka the editor The lyrics in Russian: Мы, таинственно изображающие Херувимов и воспевающие Животворящей Троице трисвятую песнь, да оставим ныне всякую житейскую заботу чтобы нам принять Царя всех [разумных существ], невидимо сопровождаемого, словно телохранителями, воинствами Ангелов. Аллилуиа! The English translation: We who mystically represent the Cherubim, and who sing to the Life-Giving Trinity the thrice-holy hymn, let us now lay aside all earthly cares that we may receive the King of all, escorted invisibly by the angelic orders. Alleluia!
