M/S of a young couple being directed off the ship as commentator says “...the dreams come in, brought by the immigrants who arrive in increasing boatloads every week“. M/Ss of the ship’s funnel; the couple coming down the gangplank of the ship. L/S of Haifa; general view of the desert and scrubland around the city. M/Ss of the Weizmann Institute of Science, where people are studying the surrounding land in order to grow crops successfully in this area. Various shots at an institute in Rehovot (it is not clear if this is the Weizmann Institute) where scientists and students look at different types of soil in a field and a grove. L/S of a nursery of young trees as a tractor pulling a plough passes in the foreground. Various shots in an orange grove; the students are shown the orange blossoms; women are seen picking oranges. Various shots of the traditional harvest dances; young people in traditional dress dance about with pieces of floaty fabric on an open air stage. In C/Us of the audience are the young couple we saw earlier and a woman with a young boy. Brief M/S of another part of the dance; several young girls in long white dresses walk gracefully across the stage; four Israeli flags hang at the rear of the stage. Commentator says “For these young people, the future is bright with promise - in a land of warmth and light and glorious sunshine“. Note: mute neg appears to be quite scratched.
