Planing Board Making

I got the idea for this Japanese planing board or mini workbench (Atedai 当て台) from @Lemongrasspicker ( I’m not yet sure how to use it, but I want to learn. Since I’m about to emigrate and won’t be able to take my workbench with me, I decided to make a board that I could use even outdoors, like by the sea, in the mountains, or in the forest. I think it will be very beautiful and interesting; the key now is to learn how to work with it. On the straight side, I’ll probably attach a block to serve as a shooting board. The board itself is made of walnut, 80 cm long, 30 cm wide, and 6 cm thick. The legs are made of maple, and the top stop is made of snakewood, which was a gift from a subscriber from France—thank you very much for that. The finish, as always, is a curved oil. As you can see, there are holes in the board. At one point, I wanted to make a console with legs, but I lost interest in the idea during the process and decided not to finish it. The walnut itself was acquired about 10 years ago in Odessa with my friend Andrei @lyaminandrei we took it to a sawmill, dried it, and this is the last board I have left from that walnut.
