Autumn Apple - Live Oil painting

for Today’s Foxton Friday paintalong (Friday 4th October, 2024) I’ll be painting a version of this apple. This photo was taken in the orchard behind our farm house. The apples are covering the trees at the moment. And this is my favourite time of year. There’s something special about the light. So for today, rather than attempting to make a finished painting (although that might happen!) I’m going to be focusing on the patterns of light and shadow, and the colours that make them up. I’ll be mixing them live, talking about why they are the way they are and why they’re tricky to mix! And then I’ll be painting light and shadow shapes. We’ll see if a painting emerges.
