Kiss of Death; Staircase

Although intended as a vehicle for Victor Mature, 1947’s “Kiss of Death” actually served to rocket a then unknown Richard Widmark to stardom with his portrayal of sadistic killer Johnny Udo. In this scene, he shows just how twisted he is when he confronts Victor Mature’s wheelchair bound mother while trying to learn Mature’s whereabouts after he is convinced that he “ratted him out”
