Gold Coast to receive $2.5 million tourism boost

The Gold Coast is receiving a much-needed tourism boost. It follows the deadly storms which hit the region during the Christmas period. The Queensland government is injecting $2.5 million into the local tourism sector in a bid to get the battered industry back on track. The weather events which occurred over Christmas and New Year’s claimed the lives of at least seven people and left tens of thousands of homes and businesses without power. This funding will go towards 50,000 vouchers, which will be made available to tourists and locals to spend on tourism experiences across the city.
