Bachata Music in Vuelta Larga (Música Bachata de Vuelta Larga)

In March 2013, my wife Piper and I went to the Dominican Republic to visit our son Jackson, who is working there as a Peace Corps volunteer. During our visit, we traveled to Vuelta Larga, a small village in the mountains in the northern province of María Trinidad Sánchez, where Jackson lives and works. Some of his friends sat down to play some bachata, a style of music currently very popular in the Dominican Republic. The bachateros here are Joel del Orbe (left, lead guitar), Elijio Martinez (rhythm or
