2023: The Royal Family’s year of ’recrimination not reconciliation’ | Royal Insight
This year’s events for the royal family are unprecedented. From Prince Harry’s ‘incendiary’ autobiography ‘Spare’, to the first royal coronation in 70 years, Camilla Tominey says that King Charles’ first year as monarch has been tricky.
The royal family are known for trying to show grace and calm during difficult times, like a swan gracefully gliding on the water. However, below they are frantically flapping their legs where no one can see. The publication of ‘Spare’ - which followed Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary and the well-known interview with Oprah Winfrey - cut the royal family quite deep.
Camilla Tominey says, “it is interesting in the midst of everything that has been said and done over the last 12 months, that Harry and Meghan’s approval rating has continued to decline. Whereas the royals remain pretty steady”.
“Everyone can agree that the coronation basically went off without a hitch”. Camilla Tominey looks back on the events and the accession of King Charles.
