The finale of episode 9 is designed to feel like a cliffhanger, but if you pay precise attention to what the story is about, it’s the perfect place to end. The fate of Piltover and Zaun is secondary to what Arcane is trying to convey to us about the inevitability of change. Jayce refuses to accept what Hextech will become, Jinx refuses to accept that she cannot become Powder again and will never have the same relationship with Vi. That moment of inevitability is key to understanding why the Arcane writers chose to end right when the missile shattered the glass of the council chamber and not a second later. (And Mel...?
