The Platters were one of the finest vocal groups of the doo wop era, & Tony Williams was one of the best lead vocalists. “I’m Sorry” was written by Peter Tinturin, Buck Ram, & Billy White & first recorded by Bobby Wayne in 1952. Buck Ram who was the Platters’ manager, had the group record the song as part of their Mercury LP, The Platters on April 17, 1956. It was later released as a single on January 30, 1957 & reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “I’m Sorry” was later covered by Gene Pitney in 1970.
