Grand Performance in Pyongyang to Celebrate 69th Anniversary of War Victory 위대한 전승 69돐 기념행사 성대히 진행

A grand celebration was held before the Monument to Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War in the capital Pyongyang. The respected Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, was present there. A ceremony of the celebration took place. The Central Military Band of the Ministry of National Defence made different formations to the tune of revolutionary war songs and guards of honour of the Korean People’s Army demonstrated skilful and adroit finesse with weapons, adding to the excitement of the V-Day. Then, paratroopers displayed parachuting skills and combat flying corps showed aerial stunts. Amid the playing of the welcome music, Kim Jong Un and his wife Ri Sol Ju came out together with war veterans. Members of the Korean Children’s Union presented bouquets to Kim Jong Un and Ri Sol Ju. Acknowledging the enthusiastic cheers of the participants, Kim Jong Un warmly congratulated the war veterans and all other people across the country on the V-Day. Veterans of the Fatherland Liberation War were invited to the celebration. Present there were senior officials of the Party and government, lecturers in the field of revolutionary history for war victory, students of revolutionary schools, university students, officials of ministries and national agencies and Pyongyang citizens. Also on hand were senior officials of the Ministry of National Defence, commanders of the services, military and political commanding officers of the large combined units and combined units and service personnel of the People’s Army. A ceremony of hoisting the flag of the DPRK was held. Guards of honour of the KPA, holding a flag of the DPRK, solemnly entered to the tune of the song “Our National Flag“. Amid the solemn playing of the national anthem of the DPRK, the sacred blue and red flag of the DPRK was hoisted in the night sky of the V-Day. Kim Jong Un delivered a significant speech in commemoration of the V-Day. When he finished his speech, the victorious wartime generation and their descendants raised stormy cheers again. Fireworks were set off amid the enthusiastic cheers. A spectacular performance was given to commemorate the great V-Day. Put on the stage were wartime songs and masterpieces which were sung as songs of struggle and faith in the years of victory. The performers also sang the “War Song of the Chinese People’s Volunteers“ representing the merits of excellent sons and daughters of the Chinese people who fought shoulder to shoulder with the Korean people in the same trench against the imperialist aggression. The performance ended with the songs of the era of WPK in praise of victory in the war “Tell, Fireworks Display for the War Victory“ and “July 27, Our Victory Day“. Fireworks were set off again, beautifully decorating the night sky of the holiday. Kim Jong Un warmly pressed hands of war veterans following him, expressing the belief that the tradition of victory and fighting spirit of the great years would serve as an excellent nutrient training the Korean people and the rising generations as indomitable patriotic fighters and an inexhaustible source of ceaseless fresh victories and miracles.
