QUARTZ - Stand Up and Fight - [FULL ALBUM]

🔘 Quartz appeared on the scene in the mid-seventies, in 1974, under the name Bandy Legs, until 1977, when their first album was published under the definitive name of Quartz. Despite being rookies, they had the invaluable work of Tony Iommi on production, and in one of their songs, ’Circles’, they had Brian May and Ozzy Osbourne as special guests on guitar and backing vocals, respectively. Although they never became part of the top bands, Quartz, like so many others, were driven by their ambitions and an irrepressible spirit to reach the top. Proof of their perseverance is that they managed to perform three times at the Reading festival (1976, 1977 and 1980) and performed as opening acts for the biggest in the business, such as Saxon, UFO and Iron Maiden. Stand Up and Fight, their second album, has enough quality to be considered one of the best of the time. Note that it was published in 1980, the year in which two seminal works were published, such as Strong Arm of the Law, the razor blade album, and the Maiden’s self-titled album. And there were Quartz, side by side with the best, hand in hand, and with a work whose title is not only familiar to us but should have become a true philosopher’s stone. Due to the fact that it is one of the first works of the new batch of British heavy metal, Stand Up and Fight is a perfect example of the transition and brotherhood of seventies hard rock with the incipient heavy metal. Here you can perfectly observe the desire to imitate Led Zeppelin, but it also points to something different, a new genre.
