Our Dogs No. 1 (1933)

Filmed at the Samoyed Kennels, Hazlemere, and described by Major A.J. Dawson, the “Daily Herald“ Kennel Expert. Lovely shots of kennel maids walking down the steps of a large house with Samoyeds on leads. Various picturesque shots of the girls and the dogs. The dogs are from Miss Kate Perry’s (sp?) kennel and are all prizewinners. They have keen faces and foxy heads. The puppies are particularly cute. We see the dogs being fed, having their teeth cleaned and their fur brushed - they love it! We see Major Dawson judging the dogs. One of the kennel maids runs with the dogs and makes them jump over a bench. A group of Samoyeds pull a cart which a little boy sits in. The voiceover for this item is rather odd. Major A.J. Dawson says the following: “They are white inside as well as out, because life in close partnership with hard-bitten Samoyed men has given them the virtues of white men.“ Eh?! Note: owner of the kennel might be Miss Keyte-Perry. Address: Oak Hall, Hazlemere, Surrey. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
