Seventh Commandment Explained - “Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery”
What is the meaning of the seventh commandment of the ten commandments: “You shall not commit adultery” or “Thou shalt not commit adultery”?
We always have desires before us that we can fulfill. As we progress on the spiritual path, we meet certain desires that we can specifically fulfill in a manner of love and bestowal. These desires are called “wife,” which has nothing to do with a wife in this world. Rather, they are a specific field of desires we can fulfill with a spiritual intention, i.e. an intention to love and bestow.
If we try to fulfill desires outside that field that we can approach with a correct intention, then the fulfillment enters our ego, which is what “adultery” means in spirituality. It discusses the growth of the spiritual desire and how to keep that spiritual desire growing.
We thus need to specifically focus on desires that we can fulfill with an intention to love and bestow. Upon other desires, which we cannot approach with the intention to love and bestow, we place a restriction
