Areas that normally have nothing to do with flood issues in Léogâne are now inundated with water. The largest hospital in the Region of Palmes was also flooded, patients and nurses were in dire straits. The River Rouyonne sweeps through the main Cemetery in downtown Léogâne, exhuming bodies and bringing coffins to the surface. Deslandes zone, part of the 3rd Grande Rivière, Darbonne region is one of the areas worst affected by flooding. People can remember Cyclone Gordon, Flora and Azèle. Never in history, however, has a flood occurred in Léogâne.
