Now Playing at the New York Film Festival George Harrison: Living in the Material World is an upcoming BBC documentary film, directed by Martin Scorsese. Based on the life of George Harrison, it is scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom in 2011. The film will follow Harrison’s story from his early life in Liverpool, the success of Beatlemania, his travels to India, the influence of Indian culture in his music, and his relevance and importance as a member of The Beatles. It will consist of previously unseen footage and interviews with Olivia and Dhani Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Eric Idle, Phil Spector and Tom Petty. Production After Harrison’s death in 2001, his widow Olivia was approached with several offers by various production companies wanting to produce a film about her late husband’s life, but she declined due to his wish to tell his own life story through his video archive
