Rainbow - January 22, 1978 Tokyo【LIVE】

RAINBOW’s 1978 Japan tour at Budokan consisted of three shows, and this is from the second day. Over The Rainbow“ was longer than usual, and Richie’s guitar and Cozy’s drums were at their peak from “Kill The King“. Mistreated“ and “Catch The Rainbow,“ with Ronnie’s soulful vocals, also overwhelmed the audience. During “Sixteenth Century Greensleeves“ in the first half of the show, Richie’s guitar had equipment trouble and Ronnie MC’d until it was fixed. The familiar numbers changed their colors since 1976 with the addition of new members: “Man On The Silver Mountain“ featured Bob Dissley’s bass solo on “Blues,“ and the addition of David Stone on “Still I’m Sad“ added a spacier element. Cozy’s powerful solo time was the highlight of the show. At the end of the show, Cozy failed to catch the stick he had thrown, and he tried several times to catch it while explaining over the microphone. The encore “Do You Close Your Eyes,“ the only song performed at the Budokan in 1978, was a guitar clash.
