Errichted in den 1950er Jahren (einige Quellen nennen die 1930er Jahre) und aufgegeben 2008, da das Leuchtfeuer die technischen Anforderungen nicht mehr erfüllte, ist der Leuchtturm laut regionaler Tageszeitung der meistbesuchte Lost Place der Stadt. Vermutlich nicht weil das Bauwerk so interessant ist, sondern eher, weil es dort quasi alternativlos ist.
