Russian T-90M Tanks Receive Advanced ERA Armor to Counter Ukraine’s Drones

On January 12, 2023, a new shipment of upgraded T-90M Proryy main battle tanks was supplied by Uralvagonzavod, a Russian tank manufacturer, to the Russian armed forces. As revealed by the Defense Ministry of Russia in late February, these tanks were utilized in active combat scenarios against Ukrainian forces stationed at the frontline. As recently as December, certain media outlets have reported that the manufacturing of the T-90M Proryv tank in the Russian Federation now includes additional dynamic protection systems. Specifically, the reactive armor, referred to as ’bricks’ in Russia, is arranged strategically in a particularly dense manner.
