Oil spill pollutes Ecuador coastal resort beach

An oil spill spread across a popular beach at a coastal resort in northern Ecuador following an export terminal failure, the country’s state-run oil company confirmed. Some three kilometers (1.8 miles) of the Las Palmas beach in Esmeraldas remain closed to visitors while workers attempt to control the pollution.
