John Kerry, former US Secretary of State, says it’s really hard to govern in a democracy these days, because of the availability of information on social media.
“There is no consensus because people self-select where they go for their news.“
So the answer, I guess, is censorship. And with censorship, are you still a democracy - where the 4th estate (media) is a key pillar to check govt/executive actions (not that it’s ever worked this way perfectly, but in theory... Do you not erase entire countries in the name of democracy?)
