Music generously provided by the artist (Alarico) for review: The inimitable Alarico of Italy returns with a six-tracker for Hayes Collective, consisting of five authoritative sub-bass bangers, punctuated by the brilliantly syncopated minimalism in this video’s featured track, Pizzicato. Do not adjust your ears. Though it appears the hypnotic, synthesized hook is from another era with its deliberately low-fi and analog feel, evoking a jazz piano riff recorded to and subsequently played directly from a dusty 45, it is all by design and very much indicative of the dual nature of this music that looks to the past to evoke a future heard, however yet unseen.
