The Village Stompers was a U.S. music group that developed the “Folk-Dixie“ instrumental sound. The group originated from Greenwich Village, New York and consisted of Dick Brady, Don Coates, Mitchell May, Ralph Casale, Frank Hubbell, Lenny Pogan, Al McManus and Joe Muranyi.
Washington Square song was included in album “The original Washington Square“ (1963).
The video scenes are taken from a greek movie “The Dragon“ (1956) by Nikos Koundouros. The original dance in the movie is a greek folk dance called “Zeibekiko“. The name is derived from Zeibek warriors of Anatolia.
