Ali and Nino, Man and Woman, the Statue of Love sculpture in Georgia

I shot this timelapse of Georgian artist Tamar Kvesitadze’s extraordinary sculpture ’Man and Woman’ by the Black Sea in Batumi, Georgia. It is based on a story about a Muslim Azerbaijani boy called Ali and a Christian Georgian princess called Nino who fall in love, but are separated by the invasion of Soviet Russia. In real time the sculpture, which weighs seven tonnes and it 26 foot tall, takes about 10 minutes to complete a full rotation.
