How to use your HIPS when skiing!

This is a short tip on how to use your hips in the correct manner when you ski. You need to point the hips slightly up-hill as you ski across the slope. This is called ANGULATION. This will bring the skis on edge and allow you to slide across the hill without having to use your ski poles to push you forwards. As you turn it is important to move the hips down in the fall line so that when you turn your hips point to the inside of the turn and then after you come around and ski in the opposite direction your hips will automatically be pointing uphill. You can also think about this as facing down-hill with your upper body. That is called UPPER BODY COUNTER.
