Jaw Switching - Tongue Blocking Technique for Irish Harmonica Tunes
Jaw Switching - Tongue Blocking Technique for Irish Harmonica Tunes.
Jaw Switching is a technique that is similar to tongue switching. I often use the two techniques together to play difficult Irish tunes that require a lot of moving around the harmonica. They are powerful tools for emulating the sound of a fiddle and playing certain difficult passages fast and in a smooth, legato fashion. In this video I use two Irish tunes, Drowsy Maggie and the Mooncoin Jig, to demonstrate ways to use jaw switching and how it can be used alongside the more well known technique of tongue switching.
