Karuna Rasa - Navarasa

One of the nava (nine) rasas (emotions or states of mind) laid out in the fundamental text of Indian theater and dance, the Natyashastra, karun rasa manifests compassion. In this depiction, karun rasa, as evoked by the grief caused by the death of the protagonist’s husband, is presented.
