On Monday, Jesus cursed a fig tree and cleansed the Temple, which led to His confrontation with the chief priests, scribes, and elders. On Tuesday, Jesus continued teaching and gave His Eschatological Sermon to His disciples. On Wednesday, Judas Iscariot arranged a deal to betray Jesus, and He was anointed with ointment by a woman in Bethany. On Thursday, Jesus gave instructions to His disciples for the Passover, and while they were participating in the meal, He predicted His betrayal and instituted the Lord’s Supper. He also washed His disciples’ feet and warned Peter about his denial. Later that night, Jesus was arrested and taken to be interrogated before the Sanhedrin and Pontius Pilate. On Friday, He was sentenced to death, crucified, and buried. On Sunday, Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to His disciples.
The events of the Passion Week were prophesied in the Old Testament and fulfilled through Jesus Christ. Despite attempts to deny His resurrection, the four Gospels clearly describe His empty tomb and appearances after the resurrection. The truth of Jesus’ resurrection has persisted for over two thousand years and continues to be celebrated by Christians worldwide.
